Tax Collections

T
ax bills are usually mailed within the first two weeks of November.  The first half is due on or before December 20th and if not paid, begins to accrue interest the following day.  However in 2008 the 20th falls on a Saturday, changing the due date to December 22, 2008.  The second half is due on or before May 10th of the following year.  Once again the deadline falls on a weekend, changing the deadline to May 11, 2009.

NO SECOND HALF NOTICES ARE MAILED! If you would like to be reminded of the second half taxes due deadline, the Ellis County Treasury now provides electronic reminders, www.e-treasury.us.  Failure to receive a bill does not relieve the taxpayer from tax payment responsibilities.
